Social Security Phone Scams

We were recently notified that Islands Senior Resources’ main phone number, (360) 321-1600, has been spoofed on caller ID’s. Our phone number appears, but it is a phone scam by someone pretending to be Social Security. Along with our phone number, we have also received feedback that there are calls coming from all different area codes impersonating Social Security Administration.

If you receive a questionable call, hang up and report the call to the Office of the Inspector General (oig.ssa.gov).

The Social Security Administration website states: “If there is a problem, we will mail you a letter. Generally, we will only contact you if you have requested a call or have ongoing business with us. The latest scam trick of using robocalls or live callers has increased. Fraudsters pretend to be government employees and claim there is identity theft or another problem with one’s Social Security number, account, or benefits.”
