Community Care Corps (C3)

Bringing people together and reducing isolation

What is ISR Connects – C3?

C3 brings together older community members to make new friends, enjoy activities together, laugh, and learn. It links participants with trained volunteers within communities across Whidbey Island to reduce social isolation and increase access to services.

Are you interested in playing cards, going on walks, visiting art galleries, exploring markets, or connecting one-on-one with others? Our volunteers will create meaningful social engagement opportunities each week. We hope you and your loved ones will join C3 and share the joys with us!

Who can participate?

Anyone who wants to engage with older adults. You can be a participant or a volunteer.

How does it work?

Volunteers will be responsible for connecting with 3-5 participants regularly to engage them in social activities. Volunteers are provided with a calendar of events on the island. Together, volunteers and participants can pick the events they are most interested in or create their own activities.

How can I access activities if I can’t drive?

We have two vans from Island Transit for those who need transportation to activities. This will help participants without vehicles, living off bus routes, or who are uncomfortable driving at night or in inclement weather.
