Volunteering: The Power of Giving

Volunteering is more than just giving your time; it’s about shaping the kind of community we all want to live in. When you volunteer, whether you’re driving someone to a medical appointment, delivering meals, or simply offering a hand, you’re helping neighbors stay connected and supported.
How Volunteering Strengthens Communities
When people come together to help, they create networks of care that ripple far beyond each moment of service. Volunteers make it possible for nonprofits to reach more people, strengthen local resources, and build trust within the community. Every act of kindness can inspire others to give back too, and that’s how communities grow stronger from the inside out.
“Volunteering became my pathway back into the community and into a renewed sense of purpose. Volunteering gets me out of the house and gives me something worthwhile to do
– Martha Myron, Meals on Wheels Delivery Driver
What Volunteers Gain in Return
Volunteering offers benefits that go well beyond the task itself. Many volunteers say they gain new friendships, a sense of purpose, and meaningful connection to their community. It can be a chance to learn new skills, explore interests, and experience the joy of making a real difference.
“It brings me joy knowing that I can help someone not feel so isolated. If I can make someone feel like they’re not on their own little island, that’s enough”
– Clayton Granby, Medical Transportation Driver
