Shelby Edwards

Board Member

Shelby is a proven leader with over three decades of extensive global experience in risk management, organizational adaptation, crisis management, and continuity of operations. With a history of senior positions, she has been responsible for ensuring organizations maintain the dynamic capability to successfully anticipate and respond to key risks.

Over the course of her career, she has worked for Umpqua Bank, Columbia Bank, Nike, PEMCO Insurance Company, and led her own consulting practice. Shelby spent over 20-years in the United States Army Reserve on and off active duty, mostly in Civil Affairs managing extensive projects and redevelopment efforts. Her time in service includes numerous operations assignments and tours in Afghanistan and Bosnia.

Shelby holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Oregon State University, an MBA from the University of Washington, and an MS in Environment Studies from the University of Oregon. She resides on Whidbey Island with two busy dogs, is a poet and writer, a Hedgebrook alumna, and spends much her free time building out her half-acre garden on the north end.
