Introducing “Meet Me @” — A New Series for Caregivers and Care Receivers
Island Senior Resources and Whidbey Momentia are excited to launch Meet Me @, a brand-new series of casual, connection-focused events designed for caregivers and the people they support. The first event, Meet Me @ Meerkerk, invites participants to enjoy a leisurely stroll through Meerkerk Gardens followed by a bring-your-own picnic lunch.
Why These Gatherings Matter
Caregiving can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be isolating—for both the caregiver and the care receiver. Events like Meet Me @ Meerkerk offer a chance to step outside daily routines and enjoy shared experiences in a relaxed, supported setting.
Research consistently shows that social connection and time spent in nature support emotional well-being, reduce stress, and can even slow cognitive decline. For care partners navigating memory loss or other challenges, simply being out in a beautiful space together—without pressure or expectations—can strengthen bonds and create meaningful moments.
What to Expect
Meet Me @ Meerkerk is all about ease and enjoyment. Walk at your own pace through the gardens, take in the spring blooms, and then find a spot to picnic. There’s no structured agenda—just good company and a beautiful backdrop. Caregivers and care receivers receive a 2-for-1 admission discount, making it simple to attend together.
