Kathryn Thurber-Smith
Director, Community Programs
Kathryn is a licensed clinical social worker (LICSW) with over 30 years of experience in nonprofit healthcare and human services. She has held leadership roles at Seattle Children’s Hospital, Seattle Mental Health, and other mission-driven organizations. She is known for her compassionate, people-centered approach and commitment to supporting both staff and community. Kathryn has lived near Langley with her husband and several rescue animals for the past eight years. She has three grown children, including one who lives on the island. Outside of work, she enjoys time with family, hiking, biking, travel, gardening, yoga, and writing. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Grinnell College and a master’s in Clinical Social Work from the University of Kansas. A lifelong learner, Kathryn is also pursuing an MFA in Writing at PLU and a UW Gerontology Certificate part-time.
