Emelia Harris
Community Engagement Manager
Emelia Harris is a dedicated nonprofit professional with over a decade of experience in community engagement, program development, and partnership building. She has led initiatives that strengthen connections, expand resources, and foster inclusive environments where people can thrive. With a professional background spanning volunteer management, curriculum development and training, fundraising, and organizational leadership, Emelia is passionate about advancing mission-driven work that uplifts older adults, families, and local communities.
Beyond her professional roles with the University of Washington’s Burke Museum of Natural History & Culture and Seattle’s The Museum of Flight, Emelia coordinated the Puget Sound Volunteer Reciprocity Program from 2019 to 2022, expanding access and recognition for volunteers across the region. She has also served as a board member of the University of Washington’s Professional Staff Organization (2019-2020), advocating for colleagues across the institution. A dedicated lifelong learner, Emelia holds a B.A. from the University of Washington in Art History as well as a graduate certificate in Museum Studies (2015) and certificate in e-Learning and Instructional Design (2024).
Emelia moved to Whidbey Island in early 2025 after over 20 years in the Seattle area. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and paddleboarding, stopping to pet every dog she meets, cooking globally inspired meals, and traveling the world, especially within Asia.
