Debbie Metz

Director, Nutrition

Debbie received her Bachelor of Science degree from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA.  She completed her dietetic internship in 1994 and became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Debbie brings over 25 years working with ISR and 35 years in community health care in Washington State. She is the Nutrition Program Director for Island Senior Resources, responsible for ISR’s nutrition services, overseeing Meals on Wheels, Community Meals, Nutritional supplements, and the Senior Farmer’s Market Program. She ensures Washington state nutrition program standards. She also supervises departmental information technology and inspires continual improvement. 

In her leadership role, she guides, empowers, coaches, and trains nutrition program staff and volunteers, creating a caring, and inclusive team.  Currently, the team is coordinating efforts to be leaner and target zero waste for sustainability.  Debbie also develops, cultivates, and fertilizes collaborative community partnerships. 

Debbie has varied experience working as a dietitian, including being a Food Service Dietitian at Central Washington University and in hospitals in Ellensburg and Yakima, a Community Lead Dietitian with WIC (Women, Infant, Children) program at the Farm Worker’s Clinic in Yakima and at Lake Chelan School District, and as a Clinical Dietitian at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital in Ellensburg, WA.
