Chris Schacker

Board Member

Chris moved from California to Whidbey Island in 2013 and joined the SSIC Board in 2014. Before that, she spent 15 years in the field of publishing both in New York and San Francisco. In 1981 she formed her own publishing services company specializing in producing computer documentation for firms such as Apple Computer, Hewlett Packard, and Silicon Graphics, among others. A major project for Apple was the development and documentation of World Wide Print Standards, a program to ensure print consistency around the world. The company also developed and produced gardening and cook books for Ortho Books and Sunset Books, and training materials for Pacific Bell and Pacific Gas & Electric Co. A career change took her to work on her Masters degree in Gerontology and Business and into the Assisted Living field as Executive Director. After a decade in the field Chris moved to beautiful Whidbey.

Her deep interest in seniors and their life journeys led her to the SSIC Board where she  participates on the Finance and Strategic Planning Committees.  She is also a Hospice volunteer.
