Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL)
Online class offered every Monday and Wednesday.
SAIL is an evidence-based cardio, strength, balance, and flexibility fitness program for adults 65+, focusing on fall prevention. Classes are offered through WhidbeyHealth are held virtually through Zoom so Island County residents can experience live exercise sessions with certified instructors from the convenience of their homes.
In-person fitness assessments are required for new participants and are scheduled to take place the second week of every month at the Race Road Fire Station (or Bayview Road ambulance depot) with Robert May, lead paramedic for WhidbeyHealth Emergency Medical Services. This is followed by a brief Zoom meeting with a SAIL instructor on the 3rd Tuesday of the month to on-board participants to the process of using Zoom for SAIL. All new eligible participants who attend the physical assessment and online on-boarding event can start class during the first week of the month, if their completed paperwork is received.
