An event every week that begins at 10:45am on Friday, repeating until December 21, 2018
The Fun Band is here! Join this dynamic group. We are looking for all kind of performers (voice, instrument) and dancers.
Come dance from 10:45-11:45 a.m.
If you have ever played a musical instrument or like to sing, you are welcome to play with the Fun Band. Kazoo players are welcome, too.
Stick around for a nutritious lunch in the dining room (suggested donation $5 for Seniors & $7 for others).
The Fun Band has been a South Whidbey tradition for over 40 years. It started in Langley as an all-girls “hobo” band (a band of all community volunteers both amateurs and professionals). They all shared a common joy of playing music together even if it meant they just played the kazoo along with the piano, washboard, and washtub bass. Almost 30 years ago, as it grew to a full band, with vocalists, it moved to Island Senior Resources and has kept folks on their feet ever since. Tunes vary each week but are always a wide variety of favorites, which include, among many others, Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head, Fly Me to the Moon, Moonriver, Tennessee Waltz, Lady of Spain, and the Pennsylvania Polka.
